Located in Porthmadog North Wales the development consists of a 50,000 square foot warehouse with approximately 10,000 square foot of 2 storey office accommodation. The building was later extended by a further 10,000 square feet of warehouse but with an extended height from floor to underside of haunch level of 12 metres in relation to eight metres on the initial phase.
PROJECT GALAXY, KNOWSLEY – MERSEYSIDE
Approximately 480,000 square feet of high quality B8 warehouse complete with 20,000 square foot of offices over two storeys. The building is a four span portal framed structure with a height to haunch of approximately 16 meters and a floor slab designed to support VNA high bay racking. The project was made very challenging by the remediation required to the site prior to commencing construction works.
Ground improvement was also necessary by way of vibro displacement techniques, owing to the poor bearing capacity of the upper soil strata coupled with the high load specification of the ground floor slab. The development is one of the largest warehouses in the area and offers excellent links to the local motorway network. Tier Consult provided structural/ civil engineering professional services and provided a complex design model for the on site surface water attenuation system. Caunton Steel Fabricators designed and supplied the structural steelwork and Pennine installed the vibro displacement.
